I do it the simple way at Dave's BBQ: wood, meat, fire! I believe that's all you need to create great BBQ. You won't find any electric parts or propane in my pits. It takes time to do what we do. I do make my own sauces, but I ask that you give it a taste without.
Ask anyone in VB what's the best place for BBQ. They first say Dave's. This isn't the place where you get too much sugar in the rub. Just right. Where the meat rules the taste buds. The brisket falls apart. The ribs were meaty! Typical sides. Beans , green beans, corn bread and of course the pudding! If you've found better it wasn't in VB. Oh, and we started eating before we took pictures!
This was our last stop in the Virginia Beach area. We're always looking to try BBQ in different places, and this was some of the best BBQ I've had in a while. I'm a sucker for Mac and cheese bowls, so I had to try theirs. It was very good, and the pulled pork was a melt in your mouth type of good! The staff are so sweet and I enjoyed talking with them! I highly recommend stopping here for really great BBQ and company!
It is hard to find genuinely good BBQ in Virginia Beach, and this place is the real deal. The folks behind the counter are super friendly and welcoming. My friend and I got brisket platters and holy wow, the brisket was perfectly smoked, super tender, and packed with flavor. The sides tasted fresh, the cornbread was a nice slightly sweet touch on the side. The portions are a perfect size. Great for dining in, or grabbing it to go on the way to the beach.
